The Heart of East Africa
Unscripted private journeys across the vast plains of the Serengeti and the misty volcanic slopes of Rwanda.
Born of the Land, Rooted in Reverence
Tutoke was founded not in an international boardroom, but around a campfire in the shadow of Mount Meru. We are a family-held boutique safari house with deep intergenerational roots in both Arusha and Kigali, devoted exclusively to the two distinct ecological crown jewels of East Africa: the boundless savannas of Tanzania and the ancient montane cloud forests of Rwanda.
In Swahili, tutoke is an invitation: “let us step out together.” We believe true luxury in Africa is not gold faucets or crowded lodge convoys; it is silence, spatial freedom, and having an indigenous guide who can read the rustle of dry acacia grass before the cheetah even stirs.
We design fewer than ninety private journeys each year. This intentional scale allows our founders and master naturalists to personally curate every airstrip transfer, every private canvas encampment, and every sacred permit for the mountain gorillas of the Virungas.

“The wild does not announce itself. You must know how to wait, and where to look.”
